John Nelson returns to China

December 4, 2017

Following the success of the Butterfly Lovers tour with the RPO at the beginning of the season, John Nelson is back in China this month for concerts with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Hangzhou Philharmonic.

Rehearsals are underway in Guangzhou for an all Beethoven programme, ranging from the ever popular Symphony No 5 to the often-overlooked Triple Concerto for which Maestro Nelson joins forces with three young Chinese soloists, Chen Jiayi (violin), Zhu Lin (cello) and Xie Jingxian (piano).

The concert will take place at 20:00 on December 8 at the Xinghai Concert Hall. Tickets and more information are available here.

John Nelson will then travel to Hangzhou, where he will perform Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No.5 in F major, The Egyptian, with renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme also includes the Overture to Berlioz’ Béatrice et Bénédict and Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony.

This performance will take place in the Opera Hall of the Hangzhou Grand Theatre at 19:30 on December 17. For tickets and more details, please click here.
